The Right Words Resource
There's nothing wrong with using the word "said", the problem is when you use it too many times. 90% of the time you can use one of these better words instead to make the story POP that much more!
Your characters have emotions (or at least, they should) so you should use the right words to describe what they're feeling instead of words like "happy" or "sad".
